How to prep your home for Storm Hannah
We’re expecting strong gusts of wind this evening as Storm Hannah approaches from the South West. The Storm is making its way across The Atlantic and we want you to be extra prepared when the storm hits. We have a few tips to share with you before the storm arrives and it only take a little bit of forward thinking to avoid a claim in your home.
Secure your wheelie bins in a safe place. We have experienced bins flying out into oncoming traffic, damaging areas of the home and blowing at force into a car parked in the driveway. Just take a minute to secure them today. It’s best to secure all trampolines, bikes and anything else lying around your garden.
Parking Under Mature Trees
Avoid parking your car under mature trees. We all work very hard to have lovely cars so please don’t park it under a tree. Heavy branches can break off and damage your car parked on the road or in the driveway.
Have candles, torches and board games at the ready, Met Éireann have warned that we could experience power outages. Make a list of everything your family may need for the evening and have it prepared. This will totally remove stress this evening.
Viewing the waves
As strong gusts of 130 MPH have been predicted, we do not recommend to drive near your local pier or beach. We always see footage of people risking their lives and their vehicles by parking up to watch the wild waves of the sea. This is putting your own life at risk.
We hope this information helps you to stay safe tonight and over the weekend. Taking small precautions can save you a lot of time and stress by avoiding a claim. Keep in eye on the weather forecast right here with Met Éireann.
