Van Insurance Explained
There are three types of van Insurance.
Third Party: This covers any injury/damage caused to the person or property of the third party involved in an accident. It does not cover any injury/damage done to you or your car.
Third Party Fire and Theft: As above but includes fire and theft of your own car.
Comprehensive Cover: This includes any claims by third parties, fire and theft of your car and also any accidental damage you may have caused to you own car.
Tip! You may need to opt for Open Driving Cover to allow other people to drive your van without having to name all drivers.
Benefits Include:
- You are automatically covered to tow a trailer up to the same capacity of your vehicle. (Third party only cover applies)
- Use for social domestic and pleasure is also covered in addition to business use.
Additional Benefits you may need
- The contents of the van are not covered – a Goods in Transit policy is required for this.
- Certain occupations may need to be referred.
- If your vehicle has back seats and windows it may be considered a private motor vehicle and therefore will need private motor insurance.
- Open driving is not automatically included so you may need to take this as an optional extra.
